I remember the first time I tasted homemade granola. It was a warm summer day and my dear friend Mindy had invited the boys and I over for a playdate. Mindy is an amazing cook and baker. She had just taken a batch of granola out of the oven and I commented on how good it smelled. She gave me some to try and I couldn’t get over how delicious it was! It tasted nothing like the store bought granola I was used to. I asked her to share the recipe with me and I have made it countless times since. Over the years, I have tweaked the recipe to make it my own, but this is definitely the inspiration for the granola we make at Alexander’s Bakery.
It’s the perfect combination of sweetness from the maple syrup, crunchy from the oats, and chewy from the cranberries. I love to eat it alone as a snack, in milk as cereal, mixed into yogurt, even on top of ice cream!! The best part? It’s free of the top 8 allergens and vegan! We use gluten free oats, Enjoy Life chocolate chips, and sunflower and pumpkin that are certified allergen free. Do you know how difficult it is to find certified allergy free sunflower and pumpkin seeds? It’s not easy, but we special order them because it’s important. We want EVERYONE to be able to enjoy our granola safely.
